'Almighty God and heavenly Father, open our eyes to see you at work in our world:
Grant us wisdom in using our gifts, grace to enliven our churches, and courage to transform our communities.
By your Holy Spirit, equip us for the challenge ahead, excite us to follow your vision and empower us in witness and service.
To you be the glory through Jesus our Saviour and mighty Redeemer. Amen
Vision for Action has five overall aims to:
- Work together in love and commitment to proclaim the Kingdom of God
- Encourage, support and develop the ministry of each person
- Encourage each parish to develop the use of church buildings as places of worship and mission
- Strengthen the commitment to stewardship amongst the clergy and laity in order to further th emission of the church
- Encourage and develop the necessary skills within parishes and deaneries to bring the Gospel for children and young people through worship, schools and other contexts
WORSHIP AND PASTORAL CARE
In the Christian community, worship and pastoral care go together and both are the ministry of all the people of God. We cannot love God unless we love our neighbour also. Part of the richness of St Andrew's is the extent to which members support and encourage each other. However our Christian discipleship must never become individualistic. If you would like one of the clergy team to know about a particular situation of need, please don't assume we're too busy. Do ask: a written note is often best as it serves as a reminder, but we try to respond to telephone messages as soon as we possibly can.
MINISTRY TO COMMUNITY HOMES
We have a number of friends who come with their carers to the 9am service from Tyndale House and who have become welcoming members of the congregation. Some have been invited to take part in the Person Centred Plan (PCP) for each of the clients/service users of the Home. Each of these is held three or four times a year in Tyndale House, a pub or a room at St Andrew's. We are in need of three more people to link up with three clients/service users at the moment as some St Andrew's people have moved on and there is one new service user at the home. Please contact Adele Rowlands-07793 045203
MINISTRY TO RESIDENTIAL AND NURSING HOMES
St Andrew's Church is currently responsible for ministry to seven homes: Airedale, Hepworth Houuse, Hollington, Kimbolton Lodge, Lloyd Lodge, Mallards and St Andrew's Home. Regular communion services are held in the homes, but there is always scope for more offers of visiting individual residents.
BEREAVEMENT GROUP
The St Andrew's Bereavement Group continues to offer words of comfort to those who have lost their loved ones. It is not always easy to know if any of the congregation have lost a dear one if they live away-so do please let us know if anyone is finding their loss hard to bear-we are here for you. Two Bereavement Services are held during each year for anyone who feels the need of comforting words and prayers in their sadness.
