The Centenary Final Weekend – Everyone is invited … help us spread the word
Our year of events to mark the Centenary of the church on its present site culminates in May with a final weekend of celebrations. On Sunday 22nd May the Bishop of St Albans will be with us to preside and preach at the 10am Parish Eucharist, which will be followed by a picnic-style Bring and Share lunch for everyone. This will be preceded on the evening of Saturday 21st May by a Social event to which everyone is invited – a supper will be provided and it will be an opportunity to enjoy the company of both the current St Andrew’s family and to reunite with some former members who have moved away from the area. Invitations have been sent out to all former clergy and to former churchwardens who no longer reside in Bedford, but we would welcome your assistance to spread the word to your friends and family, who may wish to return to Bedford for the weekend and to invite them to join in the celebrations. To assist us in planning the weekend, please let Karen in the Church Office have the names & contact details for friends you have invited to return and who wish to attend by 29 April, also indicating whether they are planning to be here for both Saturday and Sunday or just one of the days. It would also be helpful to if any particular dietary requirements could be noted.
These events are for the whole of our Church family and if you would like to attend either the Saturday evening Social and/or the Sunday Bring and Share lunch, please sign up via the website (RSVP in the What’s On section) or on the list which will be at the back of the Church from Sunday 10th April. This will help us to establish the overall numbers for catering. For the Bring and Share lunch we would like current congregation members to bring either savoury or sweet picnic-style food or salad, sufficient for themselves and one or more of our guests. Please indicate what you plan to bring when signing up, so that we can get a feel for any “gaps” in our catering. Thank you.
If you have any questions about the Centenary Final Weekend, please speak to a member of the Centenary Committee – Ian Smith, Sue Smith, Lynn Clarke, Carol Wood, Diana Whittemore or Karen Parrott.
