About the Event
In the 1500s Bess was born into a not very wealthy family, however through her determination and hard work she became one of the most influential and powerful woman in the country, second only to Queen Elizabeth 1st. She was also involved in the building of both Chatsworth House and Hardwick Hall. Her Grand-daughter, Arbella Stuart was a very intelligent and well educated woman who was considered as a possible succession to the throne of England when Queen Elizabeth was in poor health.
