In September and October, we focus on God's gift in creation and lament at our misuse of the environment. As well as our Harvest Festival and creation themed Choral Evensong, we followed the same theme in our All Age Worship and Eco Connect event.
Reflections on working together

written by Ella Thomas
for our October All Age Worship
When we all come together, we create one body which is full of happiness and courage. For example, you might be working on a school projects with a friend or trying to sell things outside your house. Both these examples include each person doing a small part of something to make something big. Me and my sister Livie had the experience of selling things outside our house and we both had a part to play. Even if that meant one person was sitting outside longer and the other was getting a coffee, going to post a letter and doing everything they could not to sit outside in the cold. That doesn't matter because everyone is different in so many ways. And I mean so many ways, I can't even count.
To finish off my reflection, there is a famous saying by Vincent Van Gogh, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together”, and so I want you to remember that whenever you’re sad, whenever you need comforting or maybe you’re falling out with someone, whether it’s at school or not. Another thing I want everyone in this church to remember is that each and everyone of you are special in so many ways.
'Eco Connect' Event

On 18th October our Creation care team welcomed over 30 people from a whole range of organisations - Churches, community energy groups, wildlife groups, local counsellors - to gather and find ways of working together to protect God's Earth.
Our speaker was Polly Eaton of the charity A Rocha UK, which runs the Eco Church Awards.
'Eco Connect' was a great afternoon of sharing expertise and inspiration, with a definite buzz in the room. Gathering in this way, from across our community, gave a real sense of hope for the future and where God is at work in building relationships which lead to action .
