In July, our Toastie Club group took part in a ‘Charity Cache Challenge’ on the church grounds. The event was organised as a treasure hunt, but with a focus on learning: each cache contained information about one of three charities—Emmaus Carlton Village, Home For Good, and World Vision’s work in Pajule, Uganda.
The children worked together, solving clues and searching for the caches around the garden and church. Members of our Mission and Outreach Team helped facilitate, steering the group discussions towards the work these charities do.
After collecting all the facts, each group prepared a short news-style presentation to share what they’d learnt about the charities—discussing topics like homelessness, adoption and fostering, and access to clean water in Uganda.
Thank you to everyone who helped, from organising to supervising on the day. And well done to all the Toastie Club participants for engaging with the project and showing an interest in issues beyond their everyday lives. It was encouraging to see their teamwork and curiosity in action.
