World Vision Lunch in the Vicarage Garden

Thank you to everyone who came and supported this event last Sunday. Blessed with a gloriously sunny day, about 60 people enjoyed a delicious African style lunch, prepared by the Mission and Outreach Team and some of the Events Team.

Our day started with Crystal Nnoruka, from World Vision, speaking at the 8am and 10am services, and sharing up to date information about Pajule with slides of some of the projects we are supporting. These included water and sanitation, education, farming and community engagement. Crystal was effusive in her thanks for the welcome she received, and said how St Andrew’s is an intentional church and feels so inclusive and inter-generational. She prayed with us and for us, and thanked us for our on-going support.

After our refreshments in the Main Hall, we moved into the Holt Room to find a wonderful spread awaiting us. Jim Gorringe led us in a very meaningful Grace, and then everyone helped themselves and moved into the Vicarage Garden. Many thanks to Lucy and Anthony for generously letting us use it in their absence.

A suggested donation of £6 for adults (children were free) was superseded with some generous donations. We were sorry not to be able to accept card donations but late payments and any more donations can still be made in the following ways:

· With cash in an envelope (yellow envelopes are available in every pew and at the back of church) clearly marked ‘World Vision’

· By BACS to the church bank account with a reference ‘world vision’.

The Mission and Outreach Team met this week and have agreed to match fund ALL donations to World Vision connected to the Lunch for Pajule. We will share with you the final total once we know it.

Recipes for the food we enjoyed are available for you to try at home!

Many thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a successful event whether setting up the AV system in church, making sure all the children had things to do, preparing the food, setting up the tables, clearing away afterwards, and much more.
